Best of Texas Tennis Returns for 2024

AUSTIN, Texas – On Monday, August 26, Best of Texas Tennis, a people’s choice campaign, will return for its third year. The campaign lets members of the Texas tennis community highlight their favorite individuals, organizations, and programs across the state. It is created and managed by USTA Texas.

The Best of Texas Tennis offers the people of Texas a way to recognize those who portray excellence in the tennis community through individual, organization, and program categories. 

Like last year, the 2024 program will be open to members of the wider community: both USTA and non-USTA members are eligible to nominate, vote and be recognized. In 2023, over 150 nominees were submitted and received a total of over 77,000 votes.

Fred Viancos, USTA Texas Executive Director, said the awards competition gives people across Texas a chance to recognize and celebrate outstanding contributions to the sport in a fun and interactive way.

"We were pleased to see the popular response to Best of Texas Tennis over the past two years and the 2024 edition will build on that,” Viancos said. “This campaign lets Texans nominate and cheer on the people and groups that make tennis in the Lone Star State so vibrant." 

This year’s edition of Best of Texas Tennis features 30 categories including those recognizing tournament directors, community tennis associations, school coaches, collegiate tennis programs and more. Nominating and voting take place virtually through a specialized digital platform with opportunities for nominators, voters and nominees to share and rally support for their favorites.

The campaign is broken down into two phases: a nomination period open Aug. 26 to Sept. 8, and a voting period from Sept. 13 at noon through Sept. 22 at 11:59 p.m. CST-22. There are no limits on the number of nominees a person can submit, the number of nominations a nominee can receive, or the number of categories a nominee can be nominated for. During the voting period, an individual can vote once daily per nominee per category and can vote within multiple categories each day.
