Committee Member Spotlight: Mark Williamson
With over 40 years of corporate experience spanning consumer research, brand strategy, and executive consulting, Mark Williamson wasn't looking for a passive volunteer role when he applied for a USTA Texas Committee. Instead, he wanted to channel his strategic background into a cause he cared about: expanding access to tennis and strengthening communities across the Lone Star State.
Today, as a member of the USTA Texas Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee, Williamson is leveraging his business acumen to help transform how the sport reaches and serves players statewide.
Q&A with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee Member Mark Williamson:

Mark Williamson: I wanted to use my years of experience in consumer research, brand strategy, and consulting to help a nonprofit organization I care about think differently, strengthen connections and build community through tennis.
USTA Texas: What’s been the most rewarding part of your experience?
Mark Williamson: The most rewarding part has been building relationships with fellow committee members and seeing what can happen when people with different perspectives come together around a shared purpose. It has been fulfilling to help turn ideas into strategies and programs that can strengthen the tennis community across Texas.
[As a committee member,] your experience and perspective matter. You do not need to be a tennis industry expert to contribute. USTA Texas benefits from volunteers who bring new ideas, professional expertise, curiosity, and a genuine desire to serve.
