TOM HUNT ELECTED PRESIDENT OF USTA TEXAS

January 01, 2019

USTA Texas announced its new list of members of the Board of Directors, including the election of Tom Hunt as President of USTA Texas. The new Board has been elected for a two-year term beginning on January 1.

Hunt has 12 years of service as a USTA Texas volunteer, including three terms as the section’s treasurer. His volunteer work with the Corpus Christi Tennis Association dates back over 20 years, including the last four years as treasurer and over 12 years as a site director.

Hunt learned to play tennis from Texas Tennis Hall of Famers Ron Woods and Bob Mapes at the HEB Tennis Center back in the 1960s. Hunt played at King High School in Corpus Christi and continues to play tennis four times a week.

A 1977 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Hunt moved back to his hometown of Corpus Christi in 1993 where he’s lived for the past 25 years. He recently retired from his job at American Bank as a Senior Lending Officer after spending 40 years in the banking industry. Hunt is the third president to hail from Corpus Christi, joining John Zimmerman (1977-78) and Ben Eschelman (2007-08).
