Texas Tennis Museum and Hall of Fame | October 21, 2019

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear friend and Hall of Fame member, JoAnn Padgett who passed away on October 18, 2019.

JoAnn Padgett served the tennis community locally, sectionally and nationally.  Under her guidance, programs such as National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL), Junior Team Tennis (JTT), Schools, Play Tennis America and Leagues have brought Texas to the forefront in recreational tennis.

JoAnn Padgett began her service to the game in the 1970s as a volunteer for the Houston Tennis Association in order to help and watch her husband play his matches. She went on to serve as  President (1976-1977) and Executive Director (1976-1980). Padgett served as a Tennis Promoter with George Liddy & Associates for the Virginia Slims (1980-1987), an Activities Director for the University Club in Houston (1987-1989) and the Director of Recreational Tennis for the Texas Tennis Association (1989-97). She also served as the Executive Director of the Texas Tennis Coaches Association (1992-1996) and the First Executive Director of the United States Professional Tennis Association Texas Division.
