USTA Texas: How did you first get involved in tennis, and what kept you coming back to the court?

Elvira G. Kaiser: I got involved in tennis about five years ago, and I quickly fell in love with the game. That passion kept me coming back, eager to learn more and continue improving.

USTA Texas: Who in the tennis community has had the biggest impact on your journey? And why?

Kaiser: Andres Quijada has had the biggest impact on my tennis journey. He was the first tennis pro I took private lessons with, and he helped me improve every step of the way. His patience and kindness made learning the game even more meaningful, and I’m incredibly grateful for the role he’s played in my growth as a player.

USTA Texas: What is one lesson tennis has taught you that you carry with you off the court?

Kaiser: Tennis has taught me humility and gratitude.

"Every match teaches you something about yourself: patience, resilience, and perseverance. It’s a reminder to stay grounded, keep improving, and be thankful for the opportunity to play the game I love.

USTA Texas: What is it about the tennis community that helps people from different backgrounds connect?

Kaiser: What I love most about the tennis community is how it brings people together who might otherwise never cross paths. The shared love of the game creates connection, laughter, and friendship, and those relationships often become one of the greatest blessings of playing tennis.

Tennis brought me to the court, but the friendships and community are what keep me coming back.

USTA Texas: What is one thing we can all do to make tennis more welcoming and inclusive for everyone?

Kaiser: I believe it starts with kindness and inclusion.

When we take the time to welcome new players, invite them to join a match, and encourage them along the way, we create a tennis community where everyone feels valued and excited to be part of the game.

USTA Texas : What does “One Texas. One Tennis.” mean to you?

Kaiser: To me, ‘One Texas. One Tennis.’ means that no matter where we come from across this great state, we’re all connected by our love for the game.

Tennis brings people together, builds community, and creates friendships that go far beyond the court.
