Serving the Metroplex: Wagon Wheel Tennis & Pickleball Center Celebrates Growth, Award-Winning Success
COPPELL, Texas — From its modest beginnings more than two decades ago to becoming an award-winning facility, Wagon Wheel Tennis & Pickleball Center is serving up more than just court time.
The facility, which opened in 2003 with eight tennis courts has evolved into a destination for players of all ages and skill levels across the greater Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. After expanding in 2011 to add four additional tennis courts, leadership is already looking toward the next horizon of growth.
"We've seen a lot of growth in the sport over the years, and there's definitely demand from the players and an opportunity for us to create more," said Joe Weber, General Manager of Wagon Wheel Tennis and Pickleball Center. "An opportunity for us to create more experiences for people that come through our doors."
Wagon Wheel’s diverse programming caters to a wide spectrum of athletes. Youth development spans from beginner "red ball" and "orange ball" clinics to the elite "Tournament Tough" program, designed for high-level juniors aiming for collegiate or post-collegiate careers.
Adult programming focuses heavily on the recreational side, offering entry points for true beginners while providing seasoned players a space to sharpen their skills.
"We take pride in what we do here, and we feel like we put on a top-class product for all the patrons that come through our doors, and not just here in Coppell, but we serve the greater Metroplex as well," Weber said.
Beyond daily clinics and recreational play, the center has established itself as a major competitive venue. Wagon Wheel regularly collaborates with the United States Tennis Association to host Level 6, Level 7, and Junior Circuit events.

The facility also champions inclusivity in the sport, recently hosting the 46th edition of the Texas Open Wheelchair Championships, a long-running tournament that Weber hopes will remain a fixture at the center for years to come. Local businesses, churches, and community organizations also regularly utilize the space for retreats and special events.
The center’s vibrant community and hard-working staff took center stage this year when it was named the 2026 USTA Texas Member Organization of the Year. Weber noted the prestigious award served as ultimate validation for their daily mission.
"When we applied, we really didn't know what to expect or if we really kind of met the mark to be considered for it," Weber said of the award. "But... that award to us just really is a representation of the dedication and the hard work that all of our staff puts in here and the community that we've built here with our players. So we were really honored to receive that."
With player demand showing no signs of slowing down, Wagon Wheel is positioned to continue its upward trajectory, anchoring the regional tennis and pickleball community one match at a time.
