USTA Texas & WeCOACH Team Up to Grow Women in Coaching
As National Tennis Month comes to an end, USTA Texas is proud to share its relationship with WeCOACH, a non-profit organization dedicated to the recruitment and advancement of women in coaching. As part of this initiative, USTA Texas is sharing WeCOACH resources with women coaches in the state, helping foster leadership, and working to bridge the gender gap in tennis coaching at all levels.
Beginning this year, USTA Texas has selected an initial group of 20 women tennis coaches from 15 different Texas tennis clubs or facilities to receive complimentary access to WeCOACH resources. Experience levels range from coaching introductory tennis and red ball tennis to the professional level.
Erica Nelson-Flowers, USTA Texas Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion said partnering with a well-known and respected organization like WeCOACH is a great opportunity.
"Texas is fortunate to have tremendously dedicated and talented women tennis coaches, so it's exciting to offer them this opportunity to grow personally and professionally through this membership,” she said. “This effort also proudly allows us to further align with the [USTA] national office on coaches as a focus area."
Vanessa Fuchs, CEO of WeCOACH said the organization is thrilled for the opportunity to impact the USTA Texas women coaches through its year-round WeCOACH programs.
“There’s impressive work being done to diversify the sport of tennis and this partnership reflects the commitment to enhance opportunities for women tennis coaches to grow their coaching skills and advance in their careers. We are proud to welcome USTA Texas to our WeCOACH Community,” said Fuchs.
Founded in 2011, WeCOACH is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to recruiting, advancing, and retaining women coaches in all sports and levels through year-round professional growth & leadership development programs.
USTA Texas is the third USTA section to partner with WeCOACH. Others include USTA Missouri Valley and USTA Southern.
