USTA Missouri Valley  Hall of Fame Nominations



The USTA Missouri Valley Tennis Hall of Fame was established in 1986 to recognize those members of the section, both players and non-players, whose achievements and contributions are worthy of the highest commendation and recognition.

 

Applications MUST be received by July 31 of each calendar year to be considered for the current year's Hall of Fame class.

HALL OF FAME NOMINEE INDUCTION GUIDELINES

 

1. The nominee must have been a resident of the USTA Missouri Valley for a minimum of five (5) years.

 

2. A nominee must have made substantial contributions to the game of tennis to be considered in the following categories:

 

a. Player-highly ranked at the section, national or international level;

b. Contributor

 

3. The sportsmanship and character displayed by the nominee during their tennis career will be taken into consideration.

 

4. Currently employed USTA staff at the district, section or national level are not eligible to be nominated for or inducted into the USTA Missouri Valley Hall of Fame. Contributions made as a paid staff member will be considered for induction.

 

5. The nominee need not be living to be inducted into the USTA Missouri Valley Hall of Fame.

 

6. The number of inductees each year will be between zero (0) and three (3). The USTA Missouri Valley Hall of Fame Committee will make the determination of the number to be inducted in a year based on the quality and quantity of the nominations.

 

7. Anyone may nominate a person for consideration by the USTA Missouri Valley Hall of Fame Committee. Nomination forms can be downloaded from the USTA Missouri Valley website, www.usta.com, completed and submitted to the USTA Missouri Valley office as indicated on the form by the deadline to be considered for nomination. Committee members may not submit a nomination.

 

8. Nomination forms are kept on file for five (5) years and may be updated by the nominee or nominee representative at any time prior to the published deadline annually.

 

9. A nominee may be nominated more than once. There is no limit on how often a nominee can be nominated.

 

10. No lobbying for a nominee will be allowed by the committee, either by a nominator or committee member. All materials to be considered must be included with the nomination form.

 

11. Placement in the USTA Missouri Valley Hall of Fame shall be by vote of the USTA Missouri Valley Hall of Fame Committee. Votes may be made in person, by committee conference call, in writing through the mail or by e-mail. A simple majority shall suffice in the selection of a new member to the USTA Missouri Valley Hall of Fame.
