USTA Western Massachusetts Grants

Thank you for your interest in partnering with USTA Western Massachusetts to grow tennis in our area. Our mission is to promote, advance, and sponsor the growth and development of tennis in western Massachusetts.

To that end, we strive to help new programs get started and to help established programs grow. Preference is typically given to organizations that can demonstrate a clear plan for growth, are working toward becoming a self-sustaining program, and can provide access to year-round play opportunities.

In the past, our organization has given grants that supported 10-and-Under tennis initiatives, in-and-after school programming, Junior Team Tennis, as well as various types of program scholarships.

New USTA Western Massachusetts Junior Scholarship

TYPES OF SCHOLARSHIP AVAILABLE (2024):

Junior Learn-to-Play Tennis Education Scholarship (up to $250 scholarship available for juniors ages 8 - 18 who are interested in learning to play tennis)

Junior Continuing Education Scholarship (up to $250 scholarship available for participants ages 8 - 18 in a USTA NE Tennis in the Parks, USTA NJTL, CTA or other park & recreational program who wish to continue their tennis education via private, semi-private or group lessons or match play at a Western Mass tennis club and/or with a Western Mass tennis provider)

USTA WMA Grant Types

• Equipment- Junior Team Tennis, Schools, Municipalities, Park & Recreation organizations, and other non-profit programming.
• Community Tennis Association Start-up- Filing for tax-exempt status, legal fees, etc.
• Start-up Marketing- Flyers, brochures, etc.
• 10-and-Under Blended Line grant
• Adaptive Programming
• Scholarships- Program scholarships for JTT players to continue indoors. Must show need. Or for administrators to attend conferences.
• Capital Projects (not available every year)

USTA WMA “Don’t Ask” List

WMA grant money may NOT be used to pay staff, administrators, and/or program directors.

WMA grant money may NOT be used to cover transportation costs unless given express permission by USTA Western MA.

Annual court maintenance.

May not purchase USTA Memberships.

Grant Requirements

Must be a non-profit, tax-exempt organization –school, park & recreation, municipality, CTA, etc. -  or an individual to receive a grant from USTA Western MA.

All programming and equipment grants require proof of trained staff.

All 10-and-under tennis grants require that staff and director have attended a 10-and-under Workshop or a Recreational Coaches Workshop.

All Schools grants require either a School In-Service or an After-school training conducted by a USTA trainer or by USTA field staff.

Capital Project Grants: Preference will be given to organizations with a strong history of USTA programming.

Please note that preference will be given to programs with an established connection to year-round programming.
