Southwest Endorsement Criteria
For 2019 NTRP National Championships

The enclosed information will detail the process for selecting the participants to represent the Southwest at the 2019 NTRP National Championships

SOUTHWEST ENDORSEMENT CRITERIA FOR 2019 NTRP NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

 

The USTA will hold NTRP National Championships in April 2019 that leverages the NTRP rating system as a way to create level-based competition at the 18 & over and 50 & over age groups.

NTRP national champions will be crowned in men’s and women’s singles and doubles at the 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 and 5.0 levels in 18 & over and 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5 in 50 & over age groups. The 2019 NTRP National Championships will be held in the spring of 2019.


Note: New for this year, 3.0 and 5.0 divisions in 18+ and 3.0 divisions in 50+. ADVERTISEMENT Additionally, Singles and Doubles National Championships will be held on different dates.

  • 18 & Over Men’s & Women’s 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0 Singles Academia Sanchez-Casal, Naples, FL Friday, March 29 - Sunday, March 31, 2019

  • 18 & Over Men’s & Women’s 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0 Doubles Academia Sanchez-Casal, Naples, FL Friday, April 5 - Sunday, April 7, 2019

  • 50 & Over Men’s & Women’s 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 Singles Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex, Surprise, AZ Friday, March 29 - Sunday, March 31, 2019

  • 50 & Over Men’s & Women’s 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 Doubles Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex, Surprise, AZ Friday, April 5 - Sunday, April 7, 2019

Adult 18 & Over Endorsement Procedures

The USTA Southwest Director of Adult Competition will endorse two singles players in each NTRP classification using the Final Year-End Ranking list released in January 2019. The top two ranked players will be invited. If a player declines, the next highest qualified player on the Final Year End Ranking list will be invited. This process will continue until two singles players accept the invitation.

 

The USTA Southwest Director of Adult Competition will endorse two doubles players in each NTRP classification using the Final Year-End Ranking list released in January 2019. The top two ranked players will be invited. If a player declines, the next highest qualified player on the Final Year End Ranking list will be invited. This process will continue until two doubles players accept the invitation. A doubles player may choose their partner as long as they are listed anywhere on the 2019 Final Year End Ranking list.

 

Adult 50 & Over Endorsement Procedures

The USTA Southwest Director of Adult Competition will endorse two singles players in each NTRP classification using the Final Year End Ranking list released in January 2019. Additional Notes on the Endorsement Process

  • USTA National does NOT allow self-rated players or players with a 0.0 rating to participate in the NTRP National Championships.

  • A tie in ranking points will be broken by the following (Note - Only singles matches will be considered for a tie in the singles rankings. Only doubles matches will be considered for a tie in the doubles rankings):

  1. Winner of more head-to-head matches in 2018 USTA Southwest NTRP Sanctioned Tournaments

  2. Highest winning percentage of all 2018 USTA Southwest NTRP Sanctioned Tournament matches

  3. Winner of the most number of matches of all 2018 USTA Southwest NTRP Sanctioned Tournaments

  4. Player who has defeated the highest ranked player on the 2018 Final Year End Ranking list

  • Players in the Adult 50 & Over Division must have turned at least 50 in the 2018 calendar year.

 

Player’s responsibility at NTRP National Championship

The endorsed players for the Southwest understand that they must follow all rules and regulations set forth by the USTA National office. The players agree to meet all deadlines and understand that if they do not register by the posted deadline they may forfeit their endorsement. The players agree to pay all expenses associated with the NTRP National Championship including but not limited to airfare, car rental, lodging, meals, entry fee, etc. The players understand they will not receive any compensation from the USTA Southwest Section.
