The Next Generation of Tennis Plays in Rio Grande

The Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Beach Resort in Rio Grande, PR, was the ideal the venue for the 3rd Youth Development Tournament of 2019; tennis event for beginner and intermediate 18 & under players.

 

The event, held from May 3 to 5, had the participation of 86 players who added to their competitive experience the opportunity of playing on green clay and hard courts.

 

Marco Rodríguez and Paola Muñiz stood out among the players that saw action in this event, after winning in the 10 & under category. They both obtained a similar score (4-2, 4-0) in their matches against Dylan Rosado and Lorena Méndez, respectively.

 

In the 12 & under category, Amaury Blondet was crowned champion after beating Miguel Quiñones 4-3; 4-0; as well as Angelybeth Rivera who won over Victoria Cajigas 4-0; 4-0 in the women's final.

 

Siena Schintler faced Lauren Ariza in the final of the 14 & under age group, finishing with a score of 4-1; 4-1 in favor of Schintler. In the group of 14 & under boys, Paulo Emanuelli beat Janny Luna Ortiz 4-2; 4-0.

 

In the 18 & under category, Alejandro Rodríguez and Keisy Ann Rivera ended as leaders in their respective divisions, winning (4-1; 4-2) to Alex Méndez and Karina Tomassini (4-0; 4-0).

 

The next Youth Development Tournament will take place at the Torrimar Tennis Club on August 23-25, 2019.
