Battle of the Boroughs

USTA Eastern is excited to present the 6th Annual Battle of the Boroughs Tennis Challenge, an adult recreational tournament that will be held in June and July in New York City parks. The tournament will feature the best of team competition and neighborhood pride and is hosted with the support of City Parks Tennis, which provides free tennis lessons and activities for children at 36 parks citywide.  

"We are thrilled for the return of the Battle of the Boroughs Tennis Challenge to the Metro Region," said Jenny Schnitzer, Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of USTA Eastern. "The event will once again allow many of the best adult tennis players to compete in New York City’s parks and help children learn the sport of a lifetime."

"The Battle of the Boroughs Tennis Challenge allows adult players in our parks to again compete in a friendly atmosphere and represent their own neighborhoods and boroughs," said Mike Silverman, Director of Sports for City Parks Foundation (CPF).

New This Year - The Battle

There are battles held throughout the USTA Eastern Section. This includes Battle of the Parks (New Jersey) and Battle of the Island (Long Island). The Boroughs winners of both flights will be invited to participate in the Battle Championships!

Date: July 21st

Time: Check-in 8:30 am

Matches start 9:00 am

Location: Flushing Meadows - Corona Park, Queens, N.Y.  

Rules and Registration 

Adult teams of 6-8 players per team ages 18 and up, will compete against other teams in their borough before earning a slot in the Citywide Championships and BBQ. Download rules here.

Players with a NTRP rating of 4.0 or higher will compete in Flight A. Players with a NTRP rating of 4.0 or lower will compete in Flight B.

Registration is $20/per person.
