PLAYER NEWS
AUSTRALIAN OPEN
We followed the progress of our Midwest pros at the Australian Open. One of the first to play... Nishesh Basavareddy from Central Indiana had an incredible debut. The 19 year old went up against Novak Djokovic in Round 1 and stunned the crowds (and all of us back home) with his seemingly fearless performance! Ultimately, Djokovic won 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2, but went on to say about Basavareddy, "I was very impressed by him," calling Basavareddy, "a complete player."
In other exciting news at the Australian Open, Chicago's Taylor Townsend and her doubles partner Katerina Siniakova won their second Grand Slam women's doubles title together!
