Adaptive Sports Iowa Hosts Recreation Summit
The 2022 Adaptive Sports & Recreation Summit was held Sept. 15, 2022, at Wildwood Hills Ranch in St. Charles, Iowa. The annual event is for organizations across the state to develop and share strategies to help Iowans with disabilities. The day’s events included hands-on learning, round-table discussions and networking.
Around 20 organizations came out for the event, including USTA Iowa’s tennis service representative, John Terpkosh.
“USTA Iowa has been able to create many new partnerships from attending these summits,” Terpkosh said. “This year I was able to connect with YMCAs of Greater Des Moines. We are going to create a YMCA tennis league.”
Adaptive Sports Iowa hosted the event. Since 2011, the organization provides sports opportunities for those with all physical disabilities including wheelchair tennis, basketball, sled hockey, track and field, cycling and more.
