Quad Cities CTA is Back in the Spotlight with New Activities
After years of being inactive, the Bi-State Community Tennis Association in the Quad Cities is coming back strong, with new projects including a junior tournament and a tennis fund drive.
“Our group's mission statement is to help grow the game of tennis in both the Illinois and Iowa Quad Cities, and our first community effort will be a youth Orange/Green ball Junior Circuit event,” said John Feehan, CTA President.
The event is Friday, May 12, at the Quad Cities Tennis Club in Moline, Illinois. Following the event will be a pizza party for all participants, Feehan said.
In conjunction with National Tennis Month, the Bi-State CTA is also collecting used tennis equipment to distribute within the community and grow the game of tennis by eliminating another barrier. Equipment includes used racquets, bags, gently-used shoes and unused strings. Items can be dropped off at the following locations throughout the month of May:
YMCA Sports Center, 2222 Middle Road, Bettendorf, IA.
Quad City Tennis Club, 1522 47th Ave., Moline, IL.
“We are very fortunate to have a large number of passionate tennis players in our area, and we are very excited to help organize events (at both the junior and adult levels), and help foster a love of the game in the upcoming generations as well,” Feehan added.
