Start Thinking About Your Nominations for USTA Iowa Awards
Have you noticed an opponent with especially good sportsmanship? Instructors who have gone the extra mile for the players, or a tournament that went off without a hitch? Award season is coming up and Mike Conlon, USTA Iowa Awards Chair, offers some advice on the kind of criteria to look out for when nominating people.
“I think it’s important for club directors, instructors, coaches, and tournament hosts to be looking for the following things,” he said.
Players that show good sportsmanship on and off the court.
Players that have advanced their level of play through hard work.
Families that get involved in USTA tournament play.
Instructors/coaches that help grow the game in various ways.
Tournaments that are well organized and promote a positive atmosphere for their events, and also help grow the game by offering different levels of play throughout the year.
The deadline for award nominations for USTA Iowa is Aug. 25, 2022. For any questions, contact John Terpkosh at jterpkosh@movalley.usta.com.
