USTA Iowa Adult League District Championships Lands New Location
USTA Iowa Adult League District Championships took place June 12-13 at the Marshalltown Court Complex, and June 26-27 at Byrnes Park Tennis Center in Waterloo.
The facility in Marshalltown is brand new and located at the local high school. The new facility houses 12 state-of-the-art courts and three pickleball courts. It received funding from the USTA, Martha Ellen Tye Foundation, City of Marshalltown, the Marshalltown School District and individual donations.
“Marshalltown has really embraced the new facility,” said James Christiansen, Marshalltown Head Boys Tennis Coach. “Our school tennis teams have been loving the extra court space, and spectators have come out in droves to watch our matches. Despite the questionable weather this spring, courts have been in use by all sorts of community members, from youngsters using the hybrid lines to seniors.”
Christiansen added that the community is excited to be hosting three USTA (Adult District, Level 6 Junior, Level 7 Junior) events this summer as well.
“Marshalltown has a lot to offer and we look forward to showing off the Marshalltown Court Complex and community at large,” he said.
We are now gearing up for 2022! Be sure your Letter of Intent for Early Start Leagues is submitted by the due date: August 1, 2021 for 2022 leagues.
