Explore the Parks of Lincoln Through a City-Wide Scavenger Hunt
May is National Tennis Month, and to commemorate the occasion, Woods Tennis Center in Lincoln is putting on a city-wide scavenger hunt at 17 different parks with tennis courts across the city. “The Great Tennis Pursuit” is open to all ages throughout the month of May. The goal is to bring more awareness to local courts, while having fun and winning prizes at the same time.
“With this event, we hope to not only share the existence of these courts with the greater tennis community in an interactive way, but also encourage individuals of all ages and skill levels to get out and play,” said Kaitlin Roselius, community outreach director at Woods Tennis Center.
Once individuals and teams are registered, different challenges will be spotlighted each Monday in May, taking place at various courts. Raffle baskets will be awarded at the end of the month, in addition to a party held at Woods Tennis Center, where winners will be announced and prizes handed out.
“This event will serve as both a scavenger hunt wrap-up and celebration event, as well as an opportunity to share and promote summer programming,” Roselius added.
This event is funded through a USTA community grant to promote National Tennis Month.
Scavenger Hunt Rules:
(1) Interested individuals will register themselves and/or their team.
(2) Four community tennis parks in Lincoln will be spotlighted on the first Monday of every week in May. There will be one park/court from each of the four quadrants across the city (i.e., Northwest, Northeast, Southwest, and Southeast).
(3) Scavenger hunt participants will then be encouraged to adventure out to a spotlighted park of the week, play some tennis with friends or family, and snap a picture to submit for photo evidence.
(4) All those who play at four different community courts and submit photo evidence will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win additional prizes.
(5) Every additional community court visited and played on will count as one additional raffle chance.
(6) Additional raffle chances will also be given to creative photo submissions.
