Missouri Valley / Nebraska

A letter from USTA Nebraska President John Rademacher

John Rademacher | December 28, 2024

Greetings from your USTA Nebraska president!

Please take a few moments to let me share with you our victories in 2024 and our request for 2025.

In 2024, communities across Nebraska renovated or added tennis courts. Those communities included Fremont, McCook, Columbus and Scottsbluff. The state’s biggest tennis facility, Koch Family Tennis Center in Omaha, began renovation of 17 courts. Lexington added a four-court indoor facility.

Lincoln hosted a men’s Challenger event in August and our first-ever pro women’s event in November. A middle school tennis program will run again this winter. Nebraska recruited five new officials and has the most officials in the USTA Missouri Valley. The district helped sponsor team state events for both girls’ and boys’ high school seasons.

Looking ahead to 2025, if you or someone you know has benefited from tennis, we need you. Consider volunteering in one of many ways. You could become an official. You could serve on your local community tennis association. You could serve on a Nebraska district committee such as adult competition, junior competition, community development, officials, diversity and inclusion, or junior local play and competition (team challenges, 10 and Under tennis, Junior Team Tennis and junior circuits).

A small amount of your time per month would have a HUGE impact on sharing the sport of tennis with all ages and abilities in all parts of Nebraska. Please feel free to reach out to me at johnprademacher@gmail.com so I can connect you with a volunteer opportunity.
