Happy Holidays from our Staff

December 13, 2022

Happy Holidays and what a great tennis year in Nebraska.  Nebraska has had a very busy and successful year in both junior and adult tennis.  Some of the highlights are below.

In junior tennis, the number of participants increased to near record levels in tournaments and programming for both new and experienced players.

In adult tennis, USTA league play was up by over 400 participants from 2021. USTA Nebraska hosted the Missouri Valley 40&Over Mixed Section Championship in September at Koch and the Tri-Level Section Invite in November at Genesis in Omaha.  In addition, Omaha Tennis Buddies hosted the Missouri Valley Fred Johnson ALL Stars Tourney this summer at Koch Tennis Center.

In other big news, Nebraska’s own Lily Lautenschlager of Lincoln, participated in the first ever junior girl’s wheelchair division at the US Open. The Ernest Gundy Tennis Center in Kearney opened in May.

Most importantly, on behalf of the USTA Nebraska board and staff we thank you, the players, parents and all the facilities for making 2022 such a great year.

Have a blessed and happy holiday season!
