New Leadership for the Lincoln Tennis Association
To kick off the New Year, the Lincoln Tennis Association elected a new leader. Shalla Powell-Mandigo is the new LTA President, replacing Jason McFarley, who is now serving as the LTA Secretary. Powell-Mandigo grew up in Lincoln, played tennis at Lincoln High School, and continues to play actively in the USTA and local tennis leagues.
“I hope to grow the number of tennis players in the Lincoln community by encouraging newcomers to pick up tennis by providing information on how to get started and where to get started,” she said. “I also want to increase awareness of tennis opportunities to other players in the Lincoln community, including USTA and ABTL leagues.”
Powell graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a degree in business, and later attended Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Institute in Portland, Oregon, and earned a degree in culinary arts. She previously worked at Woods Tennis Center and is now working in human resources for the state of Nebraska.
She is looking forward to her new role and hopes she can raise awareness with the Lincoln Tennis Association.
“I would like people to know that LTA exists and has some cool events planned for 2023, so I suggest everyone keep their eyes open for more info to come,” she said.
Shalla, her husband Kevin, and daughter Greta all play tennis. For more information on how you can get involved in the LTA, contact For more information, contact Powell-Mandigo at pshalla@hotmail.com.
