USTA announces teams for World Tennis Masters 40 & 45 World Team Championships

July 31, 2026

The United States Tennis Association (USTA) announced the players who will represent the United States at the World Tennis Masters 40 and 45 World Team Championships, which will be held Aug. 2-7 in Lisbon and Oeiras, Portugal.

The event will feature 126 teams representing 31 nations from around the world competing for the World Tennis Masters 40 & 45 World Team Championship titles. The United States team will look to repeat as champions of the Young Cup (women’s 40) after beating Germany 2-0 last year in the final. The team will return three starters from that team, Mariko Fritz-Krockow, Anda Perianu and Kaysie Smashey and will be joined by newcomer Julie Axelrod.

Fritz-Krockow's success extended beyond the team competition as she also competed in the Masters World Individual and Doubles Championships. She claimed the women's 40 singles title without dropping a set, defeating No. 2 seed Silvia Chuda of Slovakia in the championship match. In doubles, Fritz-Krockow partnered with Australia's Angela Lawrence-Hendry to reach the final without losing a set before falling in a hard-fought championship match to top seeds Chuda and Manon Kruse of Germany, 6-4, 4-6, 14-12, in a deciding match tiebreak.

The tournament is the Masters equivalent of the Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup competitions, with top American tennis players representing their country in the 40- and 45-and-over age groups.

Following the Masters World Team Championships, the individual championships will be held from Aug. 8-15 at the same site.
