Caribbean Men, MW Women Win

The Arlington Tennis Center in Arlington, Texas, was abuzz with excitement on Sunday as the Caribbean section men's team from San Juan, Puerto Rico, and the Midwest section women's team from Jeffersonville, Ind., proved their mettle on the courts, taking home the USTA League 18 & Over 4.0 national titles.
The Midwest women's team, based out of Jefferson, Ind., took home the title after defeating a team from Topeka, Kan., 4-1. The Midwest women punched their ticket to the finals by defeating a team from Weymouth, Mass., 3-2, in the semifinals.
The Midwest team is captained by Brianna Abbott and features Leslie Erena, Denise Roby, Chelsea Leehy, Stacey Rice, Taylor Musselman, Kristin Shapira, Angela Clark, Justina Powers, Karen Mueller, Betsy Touma, Antoinette Stedman, Cheryl Dortch and Aimee Ackermann.

The Caribbean men's team defeated a team from Weston, Fla., 3-2, to take home the crown. Earlier in the day, the San Juan team managed a win against the Southern section team from Louisville, Ky., 3-2, securing its spot in the final.
Co-captained by Erick Ujaque and Enid Cotto, the San Juan team features Alejandro Acevedo, Roberto Toro Velazquez, Alexis Pagan, Edwin Ramos, Diego A Cisneros, Carlos Rodriguez, David Miranda, Nydia Ayala, Jorge Martinez, Gabriel Ramirez, Jose Ramos, Ramon Melendez, Franco Emanuelli, Jorge Cintron and Jean Pierre Vissepo.
