Tennis Channel/USTA College
Top 25: April 3, 2019
Pat Mitsch | April 3, 2019

For three weeks now, the same five teams, although not in the same order, have appeared in the Top 5 of the Tennis Channel/USTA College Tennis Top 25.
Baylor and USC inched closer to breaking them up this week, each rising from inside the Top 10 to No. 6 and 7, respectively. The Bears scored a home win last Friday over Top 10-ranked TCU, 5-2, before falling, 4-3, to the Longhorns in Austin on Sunday. The Trojans, meanwhile, scored road wins over Cal and Stanford to move to 3-0 in conference matches.
At the bottom of the men's poll, Penn State earned its first-ever ranking at No. 24 after a 4-1 start to Big Ten play.
Michigan leads the Big Ten on the women's side of the poll, rising into the Top 10 after a weekend home sweep of Penn State and Ohio State gave the Wolverines a perfect 7-0 start in conference matches. ADVERTISEMENT Seniors Kate Fahey (Fair Haven, N.J.) and Brienne Minor (Mundelein, Ill.) are now 6-0 in doubles together, while Fahey is 10-1 at the No. 1 singles position. Minor, a former NCAA singles champion, is 10-3 in singles across the Nos. 2, 3 and 4 positions.
Each team's point total, specified below, is the sum of its ranking points from the USTA's panel of 14 voters (listed below). Each voter ranked 25 teams from Nos. 1 to 25, with the first-place team receiving 25 points and the last place team receiving one. For control, the highest and lowest outlying ranking for each team on the ballot was removed. First-place votes were not tallied. The maximum points a team can earn this week is 250 (two voters were unavailable).
The full list of voters participating in the 2019 rankings are: Casey Angle (former Intercollegiate Tennis Association Director of Championships); Jordan Bishop (The News Press; Stillwater, Okla.); Virgil Christian (USTA Collegiate Tennis); Richard Croome (The Eagle; Bryan, Texas); Sonny Dearth (Daily Press; Newport News, Va.); Granger Huntress (Texas College Tennis); David Fish (Universal Tennis Ratings); Andy Katz (NCAA.com); Bobby Knight (College Tennis Today); Brandon Moglen (Tennis Channel); Shannon Wrege (Tennis Recruiting Network); Michael Patrick (former University of Tennessee women’s head coach), Lisa Stone (Parenting Aces) and Caitlin Thompson (Racquet Magazine).
