Tennis Channel/USTA College Tennis Top 25: Feb. 9, 2022
To be the best you must beat the best, and so the Ohio State men rise to No. 1 this week on the heels of a clean sweep of two Top 5 programs, including previously top-ranked Tennessee.
The Buckeyes (7-0) took down the Volunteers and fifth-ranked Virginia in the span of three days, each by a 4-0 score, to claim the No. 1 ranking in this poll for the first time in two years. Ohio State remains the only 'northern' men's program to be ranked No. 1 in the poll's six seasons.
Miami made the largest leap in the women's poll from last week, riding a home victory over No. 20 Old Dominion to climb from No. 24 to No. 17. Cal, meanwhile, is ranked the highest it's ever been in this poll, at No. 4.
The ITA National Women's Team Indoor Championships are next on the calendar for 16 of the country's top programs, being played Friday through Monday in Madison, Wisc.
Each team's point total, specified below, is the sum of its ranking points from the USTA's panel of voters (listed below). Each voter ranked 25 teams from Nos. 1 to 25, with the first-place team receiving 25 points and the last-place team receiving one. For control, the highest and lowest outlying ranking for each team on the ballot was removed. First-place votes were not tallied. This week's poll includes 16 votes, making the maximum number of points available 350.
