CITY OF MALDEN AND UNITED STATES TENNIS ASSOCIATION OF NEW ENGLAND PARTNER TO BRING FREE TENNIS KIDS DAY TO MALDEN, MA ON AUGUST 7

MALDEN, MA- The City of Malden and the United States Tennis Association of New England (USTA New England) are partnering to host a free carnival-like Tennis Kids Day at Devir Park in Malden, MA on Tuesday, August 7, 2018. The event will run from 10 am to 3 pm and will be focused on introducing children to the sport of tennis through the USTA’s youth brand, Net Generation.

“One of our priorities is to make sports and other activities easily accessible to the kids who live in Malden – especially in the summer months. Net Generation makes the sport of tennis more available than ever and we are happy to be partnering with the USTA to host this fun, free day full of tennis activities in one of our public parks,” said Gary Christenson, Mayor of Malden.

Joining the Mayor at the event will be the City’s Police and Fire Departments to play tennis with the kids.

“It’s at the core of USTA’s values to make tennis available for anyone who wants to play on public tennis courts. This day will be a fun celebration of our sport, the community and our beautiful New England summer weather. We are looking forward to showcasing Net Generation and getting more kids in our sport,” said Matt Olson, USTA New England’s Executive Director and COO.

Attendees can expect on-court tennis games as well as off-court entertainment including music, carnival games and food and drinks provided by local businesses. The event is open to the public but pre-registration is required to play tennis. All tennis equipment will be provided.
