USTA NEW ENGLAND LAUNCHES TENNIS IN THE PARKS WEBSITE IN TANDEM WITH A SUMMER ‘PLAY TENNIS’ CAMPAIGN
With around 75% of tennis play happening on public courts or at school, the goal is to connect the more than 1 million tennis players in New England to accessible play opportunities.
WESTBOROUGH, MA - USTA New England is excited to announce the launch of its new Tennis in the Parks website on the start of National Park and Recreation Month, designed to make the sport accessible to all. The organization is also launching its ‘Play Tennis’ marketing campaign to provide accessible play opportunities and highlight the mental, physical and social benefits of the sport.
By visiting the recently launched tennisintheparks.com website, users will experience an easy-to-navigate and simple entry to the sport highlighting the opportunities to play at a low cost on public courts.
Currently, more than 1 million people play tennis in the six New England states with around 75% being played in public spaces and schools according to the 2024 Physical Activity Council Study on Sports and Physical Activity (PAC) and TIA Participation and Engagement Study (PES).
“We’re excited to launch this campaign not just to encourage more people to play tennis, but to introduce them to the countless lifetime benefits of our sport. Tennis is more diverse, accessible, affordable and popular than ever, and we look forward to building an inclusive community where everyone can thrive on and off the court,” said Lindsey Keeler, USTA New England Executive Director and CEO.
Studies have shown that regularly playing tennis can extend your life by 9.7 years, more than any other sport, compared to a sedentary lifestyle.
USTA New England’s flagship program, Tennis in the Parks, is one of many initiatives to introduce new and beginners youth and adult players to the sport. The program, which is played exclusively on public courts, has impacted more than 8,000 players since its inception in 2018.
Tennis in the Parks is one of many USTA programs featured on tennisintheparks.com.
