2021 NJTL Art Contest Winners

USTA Texas is proud to announce the six winners of the seventh annual National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) Art Contest of contestants from 5-18 years old.

 

The competition was open to all residents of Texas who were under the age of 18 and active in their local NJTL chapter. This year, students were asked to “Create a work of art depicting a time when you felt like a success on court.” Each of the six winners received a plaque with a grand prize winner being selected from the winners pool.

 

The six winners of the 2021 USTA Texas NJTL Art Contest were selected in the following categories:

  • Elementary School Girl: Scarlett Fernandez of Tennis Success (Corpus Christi) 
  • Elementary School Boy: Ezekiel Olmedo of Tennis Success (Corpus Christi) 
  • Middle School Girl: Brianna Murphy of Dallas Tennis and Education Academy
  • Middle School Boy: AJ Trevino of Tennis Success (Corpus Christi) 
  • High School Girl: Giselle Murillo of Tennis Success (Corpus Christi) 
  • High School Boy: Francis Rizon - of Tennis Success (Corpus Christi) 

 

Our grand prize winner this year is 4th grader Scarlett Fernandez from Tennis Success (Corpus Christi). Scarlett will receive tickets and perform the coin toss at a match at the 2022 US Men's Clay Court Championship.

 

The NJTL Art Contest is an opportunity for participants to express their love for tennis and their growth through the NJTL program in an artistic way. This contest helps participants in preparation for the upcoming USTA Foundation Essay Contest where players use experiences through tennis to tell a story. The NJTL program was established in 1969, with the mission to develop the character of young people through participation in tennis.
