2024 USTA Texas Men's Senior Spirit of Tennis Award

Congratulations to the 2024 USTA Texas Men’s Senior Spirit of Tennis Award recipient, Mark T. Weber.

Established in 1992, this award honors a man who, in addition to his participation in USTA tennis tournaments and leagues, exemplifies the qualities of sportsmanship, enthusiasm, conditioning, and resourcefulness. With a cooperative spirit, the recipient honors and betters the lives of seniors on and off the court.

What does receiving this award mean to you?

"Being the recipient of this award is a great honor. There are many devoted people out there who are committed to growing the sport of tennis and who invest countless hours in service to others to promote the game. Being included in that group is humbling and I am very appreciative to USTA Texas for the recognition."

Presented at the 2024 Awards Luncheon at the Omni Las Colinas Hotel in Irving on Saturday, Feb. 10th:

Mark Weber is making a big impact on “small town tennis” in Taylor, just northeast of Austin. After growing up in Taylor, Mark returned to his hometown and helped the Taylor Area Tennis Association save the 12 courts of Murphy Park from demolition. He is an active tennis player, running 40 & Over and 55 & Over USTA Leagues.

Having been both a school counselor and private therapist, Mark always has a warm and welcoming demeanor, and he takes special care to ensure that anyone who wants to play has a place on court in his community.
