Job Summary:

The purpose of this position is to provide expert direction and guidance in overall office Management (Budgeting, Accounting, Human Resources), USTA Southern Programs, Initiatives and Activities including but not limited to Adult Leagues, Adult Tournaments, Junior Tournaments, Junior Team Tennis, Community Development, and the Southern Tennis Foundation. This position aims to guide USTA Southern to new levels of operating success, visibility, and prominence in the promotion and development of the growth of tennis in the section. This position will report to the USTA Southern Board of Directors.

 

Essential Executive Responsibilities:

  • Implements USTA Southern Board of Director policies and decisions and disseminates approved directives to staff and committees in a timely manner. Presents and recommends organizational policies and programs to the Board, often in concert with various Southern Committees and/or Task Forces.
  • Ensures the short- and long-range goals and objectives by Department Directors for USTA Southern are being met including but not limited to participation, marketing, diversity and inclusion and training.
  • Oversees complete financial management for the association, including annual budget preparation, audit administration, expenditures and income monitoring and year-end financial statement review.
  • Serves as champion for the Southern section on program-related matters, including but not limited to Junior Tournaments, Junior Team Tennis, Adult Tournaments, Adult Leagues, Tennis on Campus, TennisLink/Serve Tennis, Southern Foundation, and grants (Network Support Funding and Community Growth and Performance Grant).
  • Supervises all Human Resource-related activities, including but not limited to hiring/discharge, employee relations, payroll, benefit programs (401(k) profit sharing, health benefits and Paid Time Off), Performance Reviews, policies and procedures, and federal and state law compliance.
  • Fosters a welcoming environment for USTA Southern volunteers. Partners with Board of Directors and Department Directors on fully utilizing and engaging our volunteers with assigned committee(s).
  • Cultivates and maintains professional and strategic relationships with the USTA and USTA Southern District Executive Directors, Presidents and Boards of Directors.
  • Increase Southern’s service to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in all aspects of its organization.
  • Executes other duties as requested by the USTA Southern Board of Directors.

 

Required Education, Skills and Competencies:

Bachelor’s degree required.

  • 10+ years of business administration experience, preferably related to the tennis industry with strong supervisory experience.
  •  Exemplary leadership skills with the ability to develop and communicate the organization’s mission, vision and strategic plan.
  • Strong familiarity and/or experience with USTA programming, financial management, human resources management, by-laws, rules and regulations and volunteer management.
  • Exemplary communication and organization skills.
  • Foster and maintain working relationships with community leaders and public, both inside and outside the tennis community.

USTA Georgia Job Posting – Junior Team Tennis (JTT) Coordinator

The purpose of this position is to provide USTA Georgia and its network of Community Tennis Associations, JTT local league coordinators (LLC’s), captains and players of all levels support & expertise. 

Essential Position Responsibilities

·        Staff liaison to Junior Team Tennis Committee.  Executing Committee directives & policies.

·        Manage and utilize Junior Team Tennis promotional & training budgets

·        Maintain and update Junior Team Tennis communication vehicles, including but not limited to the USTA Georgia website and social media platforms

·        Communicate with and service various interest groups, including CTA leadership, local league coordinators, captains and players

·        Create and facilitate LLC trainings as needed.  Conduct annual sessions at the USTA Georgia Community Tennis Development Workshop (normally held in February).

·        Establish a strong working relationship with USTA Southern Junior Team Tennis Manager

·        Tournament Director for USTA Georgia Junior Team Tennis State Championships

Work Environment

This position operates in a clerical, office setting.  The position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.   At times, this position will be offsite at trainings, meetings and events.  In addition, the candidate will have the opportunity to telecommute in accordance with USTA Georgia policy.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to stand and walk while offsite.  The employee may occasionally lift up to 10-20 pounds.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time exempt position.  Typical days and core hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with one day off every two weeks, but may require hours outside of the typical days and core business hours. Thirty minute unpaid lunch break is provided.

Travel

The position requires travel including but not limited to meetings, events and workshops.  This is within the state of Georgia as well as occasional out-of-state travel.  In addition, the candidate should be open to travel and work on selected nights and weekends.

Coordinator, Administration and Events

 

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION’S PURPOSE

The Coordinator, Administration and Events will assist in promoting tennis in Kentucky by providing bookkeeping and accounting leadership, administrative support, and event planning to all aspects of USTA Kentucky.  This is a full time, exempt position working primarily at the USTA Kentucky Office with some travel required. The position reports to the Executive Director.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION – College Degree strongly preferred.

 

  • EXPERIENCE – A minimum of 2-3 years of administrative and/or program experience preferred. Tennis background and knowledge is prioritized.

 

  • SKILLS – Intermediate to advanced computer skills needed with a specific knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite essential.  Accounting knowledge and experience prioritized and preferred.  Experience with QuickBooks accounting software is strongly preferred.

 

  • OTHER REQUIREMENTS – A team first attitude and ability to work in a dynamic environment both internally and externally. Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential. Some travel and on-site event support and leadership on nights and weekends required. Must pass USTA and any other applicable background screenings.

Coordinator, Youth Programs

 

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION’S PURPOSE

The Youth Programs Coordinator develops, promotes, and manages youth tennis programs in Kentucky with a primary focus on the Greater Louisville Area.  The coordinator establishes cooperative relationships with local schools, tennis facilities, and community organizations to create recreational tennis programs and establish a network of program providers. The Youth Programs Coordinator will also provide support to all youth related tennis programming. This is a full time, exempt position working primarily at the USTA Kentucky Office with some travel required. The position reports to the Executive Director.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS – College degree strongly preferred.

 

  • EXPERIENCE – One or more years of community-based, marketing, or non-profit experience.  Tennis experience prioritized.

 

  • SKILLS – Sales and Marketing skills, including use of social media, to expand the base of program providers and administrative skills to successfully manage programs. Ability to partner with and motivate others to achieve mutually beneficial results. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.   

 

  • OTHER REQUIREMENTS – A team first attitude and ability to work in a dynamic environment both internally and externally. Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, some evenings and weekends required.  Must pass USTA and any other applicable background screenings.
