USTA Mid-Atlantic | October 20, 2017
For the ninth straight year, high school sophomores, juniors and seniors will have the chance to show off their tennis skills to college coaches at the Mid-Atlantic College Showcase. This year’s event will take place at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va. on Nov. 18 and feature educational information on the recruiting process for players and parents, as well as on-court time for coaches to watch players in their element. University of Virginia Head Coach Andres Pedroso will also speak to players and parents to deliver insights from the coaching perspective.
The goal of the showcase is to give players interested in collegiate tennis the opportunity to learn about what playing on such a level means while getting the chance to network with coaches that are looking for team players.* Last year, 33 coaches from all collegiate divisions attended the Mid-Atlantic College Showcase.ADVERTISEMENT
Players from all states can register to attend the showcase on TennisLink. The benefits of attending the College Showcase as a player are:
· Ability to talk one-on-one with numerous college coaches about their program*
· Showcase your on-court strengths to coaches
· Learn tips for making the most out of the recruiting and the college selection process
· 50 bonus ranking points
· Opportunity for parents to get footage of their player in a low-pressure environment to create a recruiting video
· Practice networking
Players will be separated by gender and graduation year and then split into groups of four based on their current UTR. Just like in a college match, play will start with doubles before moving on to singles. No scores will be recorded; the showcase is for players to demonstrate their skills in-person in front of coaches.
Off the court, parents and players will be able to attend an information session on navigating the recruiting process, including an introduction from Andres Pedroso, head coach of the defending National Tennis Champion University of Virginia.
The Mid-Atlantic College Showcase is open to coaches from all areas. Andres Pedroso will also lead a Doubles Clinic for coaches during the event. Reserve your spot to see some of the top talent in the region.
*Coaches must follow their NCAA Compliance Regulations in regards to visiting with players.
