USTA Missouri Valley celebrates Women's History Month

Marissa Moment Brown, USTA Missouri Valley managing director, play and competition, is set to celebrate her 20th year working for the section later this year. Brown is a Washburn University Athletics Hall of Famer and captured three USTA Gold Balls competing alongside her husband in mixed doubles. Longtime USTA volunteer, league player and team captain Beth Causey is excited to step into the role of USTA Missouri Valley president for the 2025-26 term. Causey—who overcame a breast cancer diagnosis in 2011 with the help of her strong tennis community—previously served as USTA St. Louis president. Check out Causey's story by clicking here.

 

Though she didn’t grow up playing tennis, Cindy Klebe took up the sport in her 30s and is never turning back. Klebe volunteers as a USTA Iowa Executive Board member and is also a tennis coach and personal trainer. Learn more about Klebe by clicking here.

After a playing career at Syracuse University and professional stints on the ITF and WTA tours, Maddie Kobelt is in her second season as assistant coach for the University of Nebraska women's tennis team. Kobelt details some of her favorite parts of college coaching in this article.

 

This past February, Maureen Rielley became the first tennis player—man or woman—to earn induction into the Rockhurst University Athletics Hall of Fame.
