junior teams advance to world team competition finals
It was a clean sweep for all four American teams that competed in the qualifying rounds of three of the premier junior world team competitions: the 16-and-under Junior Davis and Fed Cup by BNP Paribas and the 14-and-under World Junior Tennis. The events were held in Campeche, Mexico, April 27-29.
All four U.S. teams finished in first place during the three-day competition and only dropped one individual match in total.
With their wins, the U.S. teams move on to the ITF World Junior Tennis Finals, which will be held Aug. 7-12 in Prostejov, Czech Republic, and the Junior Davis Cup and Junior Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Finals, which will take place Sept. 18-23 in Budapest, Hungary.
