USTA NEW ENGLAND AWARDS MORE THAN $62,000 IN SPRING CYCLE GRANTS, ALIGNING WITH NATIONAL FUNDING EFFORTS
WESTBOROUGH, MA – USTA New England is proud to announce it has awarded $62,520 during its 2025 Spring Cycle of Community Champions Grants.
The Community Champions Grants support organizations that offer inclusive tennis programming aligned with USTA New England’s mission of “growing tennis to inspire healthier people and communities throughout New England.”
Ten organizations, including four first-time applicants, received funding during this cycle, which was awarded in partnership with four USTA New England State Associations: Eastern Massachusetts, Western Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island.
“It’s exciting to see so many innovative and community-driven ideas throughout New England,” said Mason Bultje, Chair of the USTA New England Grants Committee. “Our providers have a deep understanding of what their communities need, and we see these grants as an opportunity to not only provide seed funding to help them build sustainable programs, but to also partner with our providers to have a long-lasting impact.”
USTA New England awarded $135,500 in Community Champions Grants in 2024 and has awarded nearly $600K since the program’s inception.
These efforts come as USTA National has seen a significant increase in funding through its Tennis Venue Services Grant Program. Through April 2025, USTA has awarded $3 million in grants across 86 projects impacting 663 courts, with another $4.2 million in potential funding under review. That represents a major increase from 2024, when $1.9 million supported 73 projects and 545 courts for the full year.
New England facilities have received $120K this year from Tennis Venue Services..
Both grant programs are part of a greater strategic tennis investment aimed at expanding access, improving facilities and strengthening grassroots programs locally and across the nation.
Tennis Venue Services helps to fund a wide array of areas including but not limited to court repair and construction, technology, consulting work and more.
As the USTA looks ahead to its goal of 35 million tennis players by 2035, these investments in community programs and infrastructure development are essential. Gaining and retaining players, training coaches and modernizing facilities will be the pillars of success.
