Junior tournaments in Texas have changed. This page offers resources and information about events, rankings, and scheduling to help you have the best junior tournament experience. 

 

Due to COVID-19, USTA Texas junior tournaments are currently being announced on a month-to-month basis. The April tournament schedule will be posted on March 15th.

 

 

March 2021 Updates

Levels Offered in Texas, March 2021:

Level 4

  • Size and Draw Format: Tournament is limited to a maximum of 256 players with a maximum of 128 players per gender. Events will be flighted into a max of 4 Compass draws, 32 each in size. See flighted Level 4 Tournament (non-round robin) in the point chart.

  • Scoring Format: All Main draw matches will play Two tiebreak sets, 10-point match tiebreak at one set all with Ad-scoring.  All Consolation draw matches will play Two tiebreak sets, 10-point match tiebreak at one set all with No-Ad scoring. 

  • Draw Type: Compass (COMP), Round Robin (RR). or FIC (through R16)

  • Player Selection: Top down by ranking. This is an Open event which means players from any other section can apply, be accepted based on the strength of their ranking, and play in the event.

Level 5

  • Size and Draw Format: Tournament is limited to a maximum of 192 players with a maximum of 96 players per gender. Events will be flighted into a max of 3 Compass draws, 32 each in size. See flighted Level 5 Tournament (non-round robin) in the point chart.

  • Scoring Format: All Main draw matches will play Two tiebreak sets, 10-point match tiebreak at one set all with Ad-scoring.  All Consolation draw matches will play Two tiebreak sets, 10-point match tiebreak at one set all with No-Ad scoring. 

  • Draw Type: Compass (COMP), Round Robin (RR), or FIC (through R16)

Level 6

  • Size and Draw Format: Tournaments are limited to a maximum of 192 players in 12’s-18’s and to a maximum of 96 players in 10’s. The 12’s-18’s will have a maximum of 48 players per age group and 24 players per gender. The 10’s will have a maximum of 48 players per ball color and 24 players per gender.

  • Scoring Format: 12’s-18’s Two tiebreak sets, 10-point match tiebreak at one set all. 10’s Two short sets to 4, 7-point match tiebreak at one set all in both ball colors.

  • Draw Type: Compass (COMP) or Round Robin (RR).

  • Player Selection: 12s-18s Top down by ranking. 10’s first come first serve.  This is an Open event which means players from any other section can apply, be accepted based on the strength of their ranking, and play in the event.

Level 7

  • Size/Registration Limit: Tournaments are limited to a maximum of 128 players in 12’s-18’s and to a maximum of 64 players in 10’s.

  • Draw Type: Compass (COMP) or Round Robin (RR).

  • Player Selection: 12s-18s bottom up by ranking. 10’s first come first serve.

  • Ball Color: 10s orange ball and green ball, 12s green ball, 14s-18s yellow ball

Registration Information

 

Note Applicable to ALL Tournament Levels: You will notice that your credit card will not be charged until the tournament registration has closed and the Player Selection process is completed. 10-18’s players are limited to have ONE active registration per weekend of competition (Players cannot be actively registered for more than 1 tournament per weekend). The system will not accept late entries. L6 and L7 events with the word OPEN in the name have flexibility in formats, pricing, selection, and scheduling. Please read carefully the messaging on those tournament pages to best understand how they will operate.

 

Waiver – In 2021 the Waiver is integrated as part of the registration process; you no longer have to complete a waiver outside of the registration process.

How does the new National Ranking List work?

In order to help players and parents better understand the transition to the 2021 tournament structure, rankings have been calculated based on 2020 results using the new 2021 ranking tables and are available for your review. *Note, the National Ranking List was formerly known as the 'Shadow Rankings'
