With tournaments re-opening in the month of July, there have been changes to protocols, procedures and formats. July tournament registration is now open* A similar process will take place for tournaments occurring in future months and will be updated on a month by month basis. The next update will come no later than July 17. Here are the changes made to accommodate players. 

*SCMZ, CMZ and Challenger Tournaments

 

IMPORTANT: New Medical/Media Waiver Form

 

All players MUST complete and submit a new Medical/Media Waiver Form to be accepted to the tournament. Players that fail to complete and submit a form will be deemed INELIGIBLE for the tournament and will be REMOVED. Please follow the link above to complete and submit the form.

Texas Junior Competitive Format for July 2020

 

SCMZ

  • Size: Tournaments are limited to 288 players due to COVID-19 local restrictions and court availability
  • Type: Singles only to support the recommended 6 foot spacing between players
  • Draw Format: 1 A draw per age group of 32 players each, the 16 and under division will be the only one to have a B draw of 16 players. ADVERTISEMENT Feed In Consolation (FIC) thru the round of 16.
  • Player Selection: Players will be selected based on the order in which their entry is completed and received (first come, first served).  Example: first 32 players to complete registration in the girls 12 and under are in the tournament while for the girls 16 and under the first 48 players to complete registration are in the tournament.  Seeding for all players and draw placement in the 16 and under division will be based on Universal Tennis Rating (UTR).  For Texas ranking points Tier 4 points apply. SCMZ tournament registration will open on Monday, June 22 at 12:01am.

Note: Normally there are two Super Champ events in the month of July, we have increased that to four to try and accommodate as many players as possible due to the events limit of 288 players. You will notice that your credit card will not be charged until the event registration has closed and the Player Selection process is completed. Super Champ players limited to have an active registration in one SCMZ at a time (Example: Player registered for a SCMZ tournament cannot register for another SCMZ tournament in the month July without withdrawing from the original tournament). Super Champ players are only allowed to play in one SCMZ in the month of July. If you made a mistake and have entered more than one event during the month of July, please be sure to withdraw from the event(s)s you do not want to be considered.  The withdrawal must take place prior to the entry deadline for the first event you were entered.  Failure to comply will make you ineligible and you will not be able to compete in any events during the month of July. No late entries will be accepted.

  • Type: Singles with First Match Loser Consolation (FMLC)
  • Draw Format: 1 draw per age group of 32 players each
  • Player Selection: Players will be selected based on the order in which their entry is completed and received (first come, first served). Example: first 32 players to complete registration in the girls 12 and under are in. CMZ tournament registration will open on Monday, June 22 at 12:01am.

Note: Normally there are two Champ events in the month of July, we have increased that to three to try and accommodate as many players as possible due to the events limit of 256 players. You will notice that your credit card will not be charged until the event registration has closed and the Player Selection process is completed. Champ players limited to have an active registration in one CMZ at a time (Example: Player registered for a CMZ tournament cannot register for another CMZ tournament in the month of July without withdrawing from the original tournament). If you made a mistake and have entered more than one event during the month of July, please be sure to withdraw from the event(s)s you do not want to be considered.  The withdrawal must take place prior to the entry deadline for the first event you were entered.  Failure to comply will make you ineligible and you will not be able to compete in any events during the month of July. No late entries will be accepted.

Challenger 2 Day (12-18’s) & 1 Day (10’s) / Challenger 1 Day (12-18’s) & Participation Credit 1 Day (10’s)

  • Size: Tournaments are limited to 150 players due to COVID-19 local restrictions and court availability
  • Type: Singles with First Match Loser Consolation (FMLC)
  • Draw Format: Draws can vary on size depending upon number of applicants per age group
  • Player Selection: The first 150 players to complete registration are in (first come, first served). This 150 is inclusive of 10 and Under players if 10 and Under event is scheduled to take place on the first day of the tournament.  If 10 and under is scheduled for the second day of the tournament there could be 150 players in 12-18’s and 150 players in 10 and under. Challenger tournament registration will open on Monday, June 22 at 12:01am.

Note: Normally there are eight Challenger events in the month of July, we have increased that to eleven to try and accommodate as many players as possible due to the events limit of 150 players. You will notice that your credit card will not be charged until the tournament registration has closed and the Player Selection process is completed. Challenger 10-18’s players limited to have an active registration in one Challenger at a time per weekend of competition (Example: Player registered for a Challenger on the 1st weekend cannot register for another Challenger on the 1st weekend in the month of July without withdrawing from the original Challenger). Challenger 12-18’s players can play in multiple Challenger tournaments in the month of July, Challenger 10 and under players can only play in 1 Challenger in the month of July. If you made a mistake and have entered more than one event during the month of July, please be sure to withdraw from the event(s)s you do not want to be considered.  The withdrawal must take place prior to the entry deadline for the first event you were entered.  Failure to comply will make you ineligible and you will not be able to compete in any events during the month of July. No late entries will be accepted.

As you may have heard there are some changes being implemented in our Junior Competitive System.  To best prepare you for the changes we are hosting several virtual town hall meetings. Each meeting will be limited to the first 150 registrants.
