Junior Team Tennis (JTT) is the flagship junior program of the USTA that combines level-based competition with the fun and camaraderie of playing on a team.  JTT brings together boys and girls, ages 6 to 18, to play singles, doubles and mixed doubles against other coed teams. JTT events range from one-day tournaments to leagues that span multiple dates. The JTT championship track allows teams to advance to USTA Eastern’s Sectional Championships, where they can earn a spot to represent the section at the Junior Team Tennis National Championships.

How to Play USTA Eastern Junior Team Tennis

LOCAL LEAGUES (Ages 11-18)

Local leagues are divided into three divisions: Beginner (offered in most regions), Intermediate and Advanced. Each division offers up to two tracks, depending on location: Local and Championship. ADVERTISEMENT To find the right league fit, check out the division descriptions below.

Beginner - No rating required - This division is ideal for players who are new to tennis competition and want to play in a team atmosphere. Players at this level should have 1-2 years of experience in the sport and/or have participated in at least a few entry-level events.

Intermediate - 3.4 and below rating (NTRP) – Leagues at this level are designed for players who have competed in a few USTA tournaments and/or practice multiple times a week. The 14 and Under and 18 and Under championship track leagues in this division compete regionally to advance to the USTA Eastern Sectional Championships. The winning team at the Sectional Championships will represent USTA Eastern at the Junior Team Tennis National Championships.

Advanced - 3.5 and above rating (NTRP) – Leagues at this level are designed for players who wish to mix up their singles tournament schedule with competition in a team atmosphere. Players in this division should be competing in USTA tournaments regularly and/or in high school team matches. (Length of the tournament and season varies depending on location.) The 14 and Under and 18 and Under championship track leagues in this division compete regionally to advance to the USTA Eastern Sectional Championships. The winning team at the Sectional Championships will represent USTA Eastern at the Junior Team Tennis National Championships.

USTA EASTERN CUP  NEW!

This multi-region team tournament features ten of the top facilities in the section competing for the first USTA Eastern Cup title. Facilities are invited to participate based on past results and strength of players.

10 & UNDER TEAM TENNIS (Ages 7-10)

Junior Team Tennis for 10 and Under is offered in two divisions: Orange and Green. Typically JTT events for the age group are held over one day, but certain regions offer leagues with multiple dates. Additionally, players receive Youth Progression stars for participating in any team league (two seasons maximum per year).
