2026 USTA Texas Awards Winners Announced
AUSTIN, Texas – USTA Texas will celebrate twelve individuals and organizations from across the state that make significant contributions to the sport of tennis in Texas on Saturday, Feb. 7 in Plano.
USTA Texas President Lara Lehmann said the organization was so proud of all of this year’s deserving award winners.
“The players, coaches, organizers, officials, and volunteers who win these prestigious awards truly embody and exemplify the power in our mission of ‘growing tennis inclusively to promote and inspire healthier people while serving Texas communities,’” she said.
The honorees will be highlighted during the 2026 Awards Luncheon at the USTA Texas Annual Meeting.
“The Awards Luncheon highlights the importance of recognizing those in the tennis community who are working so hard on behalf of the sport we all love and who are helping others in the community,” Lehmann said.
Recipients this year come from across Texas - both in large metropolitan areas like San Antonio and Dallas, and smaller towns like Eddy, outside of Waco and Weatherford, near Fort Worth.
The awards also highlight the many different ways people within the tennis community have helped cultivate and grow the sport of tennis.
This year’s recipient of the USTA Texas W. T. Caswell Lifetime Service Award, Becki Wortham of San Antonio, has distinguished herself through leadership at the national, section, and local levels. A former nurse who started tennis as an adult, Wortham said her focus has been on tennis as a vehicle for personal growth and community impact.
“I remain committed to growing the game, mentoring the next generation, and serving wherever I can to create joyful, transformative experiences for young people," she said.

Becki’s husband, Dr. Barry Wortham, was also a member of this year’s award class as the recipient of the USTA Texas Randy Snow Wheelchair Tennis Service Award. Dr. Wortham played a pivotal role in developing a weekly wheelchair tennis program for amputees and wheelchair athletes of all ages and skill levels in collaboration with the San Antonio Tennis Association and Morgan’s Wonderland, the accessible theme park and sports center.
“Numerous individuals from San Antonio Tennis Association and Morgan’s Wonderland have been instrumental in creating this opportunity for tennis participation, and I firmly believe that this award should be attributed to our community rather than solely to myself,” said Dr. Wortham.
In addition to the honorees who will be at the USTA Texas Annual Meeting, six junior players were chosen as recipients of USTA Texas junior awards.
These awards recognize players’ efforts both on and off the court which reinforce and exemplify the spirit of the game. The three girls who were awarded will be recognized at the ATX Open professional tournament in Austin later this spring, while the three boy recipients will be honored during the Fayez Sarofim & Co. U.S. Men's Clay Court Championship River Oaks Country Club in Houston.
