Regional Sportsmanship Award

This year, we are excited to introduce a refreshed approach to recognizing sportsmanship. You are encouraged to nominate any players you encounter who have demonstrated outstanding acts of sportsmanship, either on or off the court. The nomination process has been simplified and now requires only your contact information, the contact information of the nominated player, and a brief explanation outlining the reason for the nomination.

At the conclusion of the competition year, all nominated players will be organized by area. Multiple players from each area will be selected to receive a USTA logo prize.

Nomination Rules/Criteria
  • Opponents, captains, and teammates may submit nominations for players who demonstrate exemplary sportsmanship at any time during the competition year.
  • Nominations will be accepted through September 30 of the competition year. Multiple winners from each area will be selected at random. Each selected player will receive a USTA backpack.
  • Winners will be notified in November and announced by League Coordinators, on Socials and the USTA PNW Leagues page in December.

Regional Captain of the Year Award

The USTA PNW Regional League Captain of the Year Award is presented to an individual who demonstrates exceptional leadership, dedication, and the ability to inspire and guide a team toward success. This award recognizes a captain who not only excels in performance but also embodies the values of integrity, resilience, and teamwork. The recipient of this award serves as a role model, fostering a culture of unity, motivation, and excellence, while emphasizing the fun and social aspects of adult league play.

Nomination Rules/Criteria

  • A team may submit one nomination. This can be done by an individual member or multiple members working in tandem. Nominations will be accepted towards the end of each league season for the competition year:
    • Fall: December 1 - 15
    • Winter: March 1 - 15
    • Spring: June 1 - 15
    • Summer: August 1 - 15
  • Winners will be notified at the end of October and announced by League Coordinators, on Socials and the USTA PNW Leagues page in November.

2025 T-Shirt Design Winner: Justin Pae

"As a BIPOC artist, the goal of my design was to pay tribute to the unique art and rich cultural traditions of the peoples native to the Pacific Northwest. I was inspired by Northwest Coast art including the Kwakwaka'wakw tribe (which inspired the original Seahawks logo). I also tried to underscore the natural beauty of the region, depicting the mountains, the sea, and the sky ... while highlighting the eagle soaring above us and the salmon in the waters below."

"Tennis is a huge part of my life. What started as a casual hobby on my high school JV team has evolved into a full-on obsession. My wife and I play on club and USTA teams (we both made sectionals last year!). Additionally, all three of my kids participate in junior tennis programs and we occasionally travel to watch our favorite ATP and WTA players. We even got to play trivia with Frances Tiafoe at last year's Cincy Open."
