¡Los equipos de las ligas de adultos de USTA NorCal están en racha en los 2022 campeonatos nacionales de la liga USTA este año! Estamos orgullosos de compartir que otro de nuestros equipos se ha coronado como campeón. Felicitaciones a los 18 y mayores 10 mixtos. 0 equipo de Mission Hills por ganar el Campeonato Nacional de su división en Surprise, Ariz. el 28 - 30 de octubre de 2022 .

 

Hablamos con el capitán John Chen para escuchar sobre el viaje de su equipo en los Nacionales y cómo ganaron el título nacional.

 

Además, nos sentimos honrados de compartir que más de 40 equipos representaron a NorCal en los Campeonatos Nacionales. ¡ Mira las fotos de los muchos equipos que compitieron en los Nacionales y representaron con orgullo a nuestra sección de NorCal!

Mixto 18 y más 10 . 0 Capitán del equipo John Chen:

Qué increíble paseo de nuestro Mission Hills Club Mixed 18 y más 10 . 0 equipo. Ha sido una verdadera colaboración de equipo de todos a lo largo del camino, pero no fue nada fácil. Estratégicamente, todo comenzó en los Campeonatos Seccionales de la USTA NorCal. La alineación y los jugadores tuvieron que planificarse cuidadosamente para garantizar que tuviéramos suficientes jugadores calificados para los Nacionales en caso de que ganáramos las Seccionales. Como capitán del equipo, fue increíblemente difícil decidir a quién emparejar. 

 

Nuestro primer obstáculo aparentemente insuperable se derrumbó a manos de nuestro increíble equipo formado por marido y mujer: el entrenador Steve y Claire Roberts (Brookside Tennis Training). Primer trimestre, ¿qué es eso? "¡Solo póngame, entrenador!" dijo Claire. Efectivamente, ganaron nuestro partido crítico de remaches seccionales. ¡El bebé está destinado a grandes cosas!

 

Anh Weber, nuestro gurú mental y estratega interno, también fue crucial. Lo que le falta en estatura, lo compensa con creces con su astucia y experiencia. ¡Diablos, creo que parte de la edad combinada de su oponente es aún menor que la suya sola! ¡Ay! Eso tiene que doler a Anh.  ¡Pero sabes que te queremos más! Imagínese, jugó D 1 para la Universidad Estatal de Luisiana cuando todavía usaban raquetas de madera. ¡JAJAJA!

 

Este viaje tampoco sería posible sin el pedigrí tenístico tanto del entrenador Phil Graham como de Alex Poorta. El entrenador Phil es un All-American y jugó partidos de exhibición contra Brad Gilbert y Wayne Ferreira. ¡Jugó todos los Nacionales como zurdo! Así de bueno es. Incluso luego de romper el trasero en el partido de cuartos de final, resistió y continuó jugando con la mano izquierda hasta el final. Imaginar… si cambiara a su mano derecha. Entrenador Alex, nuestra dama holandesa voladora. Capacitó y trabajó con Danielle Collins luego de jugar tenis D1 en Saint Mary's College. Ella tendría un récord perfecto en los Nacionales si no fuera por la fractura de trasero del entrenador Phil.

 

También agradecemos al entrenador Jeremy Field por su dedicación. Renunció a su oportunidad de volver a casa en Francia solo para quedarse y ayudarnos a superar esta racha de victorias en los Nacionales. Sin su sacrificio, hubiéramos quedado en 4 . 5 jugadores solamente.

 

Por último, pero no menos importante, nuestra jugadora con más victorias, Christi Tain. Abajo por un set y 1 - 4 abajo en el segundo set con dos quiebres de servicio y el Campeonato Nacional determinado por el resultado de este partido final, Christi y el entrenador Steve lucharon para ganarlo en un súper desempate 10 - 7 . Mirando hacia atrás en nuestra experiencia, qué hazaña increíble pasar por un nivel tan alto de competencia con diferentes socios y permanecer invicto. Pero, creo que el escuadrón casi histérico de un solo hombre del capitán John les dio la energía necesaria para lograr la victoria. ¡Tomaré todo el crédito! Gracias por la increíble carrera y victoria del Campeonato Nacional. Tranquilízate.
